Inclement Weather Policy
When inclement weather prompts the University of Maryland to delay or cancel College Park campus classes, the Robert H. Smith School of Business will follow suit for classes held at the College Park campus.
When inclement weather prompts the Universities at Shady Grove to delay or cancel their classes, the Robert H. Smith School of Business will follow suit for classes held at the Shady Grove campus.
The status of classes and events held at Baltimore and the Washington, D.C. campuses will be determined by Smith School administrators. The essential deciding factor is the safety of our commuting faculty, staff, students and visitors.
The Smith School posts delays and closing information online on its inclement weather information page. The Masters Programs Office will also notify students of closings and delays via email. Students may call the Masters Programs Office at 301-405-9565 for inclement weather updates.
The ideal plan is to post notices about delays or cancellations for weekday and weekend morning classes by 6:00 a.m., evening classes by 4:00 p.m. and weekend afternoon classes by 11:00 a.m. Please note that storms are often unpredictable and can cause difficulty in making a decision by a specific time.
There is a possibility that the College Park campus will be open, but the Baltimore, Shady Grove or Washington D.C. campus will be closed and vice versa. Please monitor your Smith email for updates on delays or cancellations at each campus.
Students and faculty should use their best judgment when traveling during inclement weather.
