Note: It is recommended but not required that students complete Business Decoded in their first year. This means obtaining 140 points to earn 4 credits.

- Students should register for BUSI758D if they intend to earn 70 points by the end of Summer I.

- Summer electives are listed as either 1Y or 2Y. 1Y electives are only open to 1st Year students. You will be eligible to take 2Y electives in your second year.

- Course Requests
- Off-Track Students Who Missed Required/Core:
- Complete the Course Request Form to request a required course that was not taken in sequence or is being offered at a different campus than a student's home campus. Requests are reviewed approximately two weeks prior to the start of the semester. Please contact your campus advisor to request courses in the Online MBA program.
- Students Requesting Online MBA Core Classes:
- Complete the Online MBA Course Request Form noted for BUSO courses only. A new form is created for each semester prior to registration. Submissions of this form do not guarantee seats in the OMBA core equivalent course.
- Please submit Course Requests for Online MBA courses in advance of the start of the semester or term.
- Immediate Payment Exemption
- Smith MBA students are entitled to an Immediate Payment Exemption. Please disregard the Testudo message indicating that immediate payment is required post-registration.
- Financial Aid (Updated 2.15.23):
- In order to qualify for federal financial aid, students must maintain a minimum enrollment of 4 credits combined between the Summer I and Summer II semesters. Students who do not enroll in 4 credits will not be given a financial aid package.
- Students using the GI Bill should be enrolled in 4 credits in Summer I and 4 credits in Summer II.
- Students who are interested in paying their summer balance using financial aid must select the "financial aid" payment option once the payment screen generates on the registration website. You must then complete the Summer 2023 Federal Direct Loan Request Form(link is external). Students who do not elect this option but want to use financial aid assistance will need to contact the Office of Financial Aid directly by emailing loantalk@umd.edu(link sends e-mail). Students should request a review of their summer aid and provide the number of credits that they are registered for.
- Registering for More than 6-8 Credits in Summer 2023
- Students must contact Susan for review and approval.
- Exemptions:
- Students using the GI Bill.
- Students completing BUSI758D-E Business Decoded as part of their total Summer I and II courseload.
- Waitlist
- If a course is full, students must be on the waitlist for future consideration should seats become available. Starting the first day of classes for the University, students on a waitlist for a course must execute daily waitlist check-ins online to remain on the waitlist. Placement on the waitlist does not guarantee admittance to the course.
