BUSI 758D

Business Decoded Saturday Seminars
Credits
2

Business Decoded Seminars explore new developments in business and are taught by our own Maryland Smith faculty experts, outside the traditional classroom. These sessions encourage personal discovery and reflection of various cutting edge business topics.

Business Decoded Seminars will typically take place on announced Saturdays, in-person, at the College Park campus. A schedule of Seminars can be found on the Business Decoded Canvas site. (Students should accept their Canvas invitation if they have not already done so).

To earn credit, students will a) attend sessions totaling 70 points of content, b) conduct additional research about the topics, and c) connect the topics to career objectives (i.e., using the topic in a current or future profession) in an essay. Students will then have a choice of either submitting a single long essay (10 - 12 single spaced pages) OR two shorter essays (5 - 6 single spaced pages). More details will be provided when you register for BUSI758D and/or BUSI758E.

Points are earned based on the following logic:

1 hour 50 minute session  = 5 points

3 hour 40 minute session = 10 points

Earning credits based on submitted assignments for each session

70 points = 2 credits (BUSI758D)

70 - 140 points  = 2 credits (BUSI758E)

Students are required to complete 140 points (4 credits total) of these special topic seminars as part of their required courses to graduate.
