The MS Marketing Analytics curriculum is 30 credits. The curriculum is subject to change. Elective availability may be subject to change based on professor needs and student demand.
The MS in Marketing Analytics program is a 3-semester program with the option for students to accelerate. Students who wish to follow an accelerated plan (completion in 2 semesters) should make arrangements with their advisor, Leean Thomas, prior to the first semester.
Students join the MS in Marketing Analytics program with a variety of technical skills and educational and professional backgrounds. The resources below have been compiled to assist incoming new MS in Marketing Analytics students with preparing for their fall coursework.
All UMD students have unlimited complimentary access to LinkedIn Learning, an online library of >60,000 videos, courses, and career development paths focused on the latest software, creative, and business skills.
MS in Marketing Analytics students will use SAS, R, Tableau, and Excel in their first semester. Incoming students do not need to be proficient with these tools prior to the start of classes, however, having some prior experience will be helpful.

Students should have the following software ready to use on their personal computers before the first day of class:

Required Summer Pre-Skills Assignment for BUMK 726: Statistical Programming for Customer Analytics with Professor Choi
MS in Marketing Analytics students enrolled in BUMK 726 should complete the asynchronous "Data Analysis for Decision Making" course by Sunday, August 16, then submit their course certificate via the BUMK 726 Canvas page. To earn a certificate, students must complete the final exam with a score of 80% or higher. The exam is designed to be a learning opportunity, so students can retake the exam as many times as needed.

Step 2: Enter Registration Information
Testudo will not allow students to register for courses individually. All first year students should register for track MB11 and enter the following information in the "Registration (Drop/Add)" screen of Testudo.

COURSE SCHEDULE
The course schedule for the Fall 2026 track is below. Courses are completed in 7-week sessions referred to as "terms". Term A meets from August through October, and Term B meets from October through December; for specific dates, review the Academic Calendar. Registration is set up for a 3-semester program completion (in December 2027). To accelerate and complete the program in 2 semesters (in May 2027), contact Leean Thomas at lthoma15@umd.edu for additional registration guidance.
