Meet the 2025-26 Part-Time MBA Association Board of Directors

Daniel Alegbeleye, J.D. (Flex, Shady Grove) | President dalegbel@umd.edu

Daniel Alegbeleye serves as President of the Part-Time MBA Association Board at the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business, where he is committed to unifying the Full-time, Part-time, and Online MBA programs under a shared vision of excellence. Driven and ambitious, he is determined to help elevate the Smith School to a #1 national ranking, recognizing that such success requires collaboration between the Board and the entire student body. 
A strong advocate for students, Daniel also serves on the University of Maryland Senate Board and the University Student Judiciary’s Appellate Board, where he works to uphold fairness, representation, and integrity. His commitment to advancing the student voice earned him the prestigious Pavela Award for promoting academic integrity. 
Professionally, Daniel is a Market Development Manager for National Nail, specializing in building strategic partnerships and driving growth in Maryland, DC, and Delaware. Holding a Juris Doctor from the University of the District of Columbia School of Law, he champions the belief that social justice cannot exist without economic justice. Drawing on his leadership as former Chief Officer of Special Events, Daniel continues to promote initiatives that foster networking, professional development, and community building. Inspired by his immigrant background, he works tirelessly to strengthen and connect the Smith School community. 
 

 

Samarth Sanjiv Shah (Flex, DC) | Chief Financial Officer sshah17@umd.edu

Samarth is a second-year Flex MBA candidate at the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business, based at the DC campus. Born and raised in Baltimore, MD, he is a proud double Terp (Smith Class of 2019) and currently works as a Cybersecurity/Operations Auditor at Northrop Grumman. With a background in financial management and compliance, Samarth is dedicated to responsibly managing the student association budget to ensure all students can enjoy the many events planned throughout the academic year.
Outside of work and school, Samarth is an avid traveler on a mission to visit 35 countries before turning 35. He is also an experimental chef, drummer, movie enthusiast, and passionate Ravens and Real Madrid fan.   

 

Jyoti Singhal (Flex, Baltimore)| Chief Officer of Special Events jsinghal@umd.edu

Jyoti is a 29-year-old second-year graduate student at the Baltimore campus. She previously earned both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Smith, specializing in Marketing and Marketing Analytics. Now based in Baltimore, Jyoti is an entrepreneur with a diverse professional background spanning technology, beauty, and event planning. A former software engineer turned business owner, she brings a unique blend of analytical thinking and creative vision to everything she does. She currently runs two small businesses: one in the event and hospitality space, and another in the cosmetics and fragrance industry, where she combines her passion for product design, branding, and customer experience. Outside of work, Jyoti enjoys cooking and spending time with her pets. She shares her home with two rescue cats, Chunky and Kela; a rescue Great Pyrenees named Mongo; and her childhood dog, Jingle, a Sheltie-Collie mix. 

 

Nicole Montano (Flex, Shady Grove) I Chief Marketing and Communications Officer nmontano@umd.edu

Nicole is a driven and community-focused leader in her second and final year of the MBA program at the Shady Grove campus. She holds a BA in Psychology from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) and brings a strong foundation in human behavior and communication to her professional work in operations, project coordination, and compliance within the medical device industry. 
An active presence in the campus community, Nicole participates in events that introduce and welcome new students and prospective candidates to the program. She serves as the Student Representative for the Fall 2024 Cohort at USG, working to strengthen connections and ensure student voices are represented. She believes the MBA experience is most meaningful when students invest in one another, prioritizing collaboration over competition and building relationships that elevate the experience for everyone. 
As a first-generation graduate student with a multicultural background, Nicole values cross-cultural communication and inclusive leadership. She speaks English, Spanish, and Russian, and approaches every role with empathy, intention, and a commitment to creating lasting impact. Outside of work and school, she enjoys concerts, live performances, and reading. 

 

Sabrina Labold (Flex, DC)I Social Media Manager slabold@umd.edu

Sabrina is an MBA candidate at the DC campus and a proud Double Terp, having earned her bachelor’s degree in government and environmental policy from the University of Maryland. She currently serves as a Program Manager in academic and student affairs at UMD’s College Park campus, where she supports an undergraduate leadership and experiential learning program. Originally from New Jersey, Sabrina has enjoyed building her life in Maryland and is excited to deepen her involvement within the Smith community. Outside of work and school, she loves to travel, explore the DMV, and spend quality time with family and friends. 
 

 

Marticia Hawkins (Flex, DC) | Vice President of Washington, DC mhawkin7@umd.edu

Marticia is a second-year MBA candidate at the University of Maryland’s Smith School of Business, serving as Vice President of the DC Campus. As a Product Owner with the federal government, she brings valuable public sector experience and expertise in strategic planning to her leadership roles. 
Holding a BA in Psychology from California State University, Los Angeles, Marticia blends analytical insight with a strong understanding of human behavior and motivation. Her professional background includes project management, delivering results under tight deadlines, leading diverse teams, and engaging in dedicated community service, reflecting a consistent commitment to organizational excellence and civic impact.
Recognized for exceptional interpersonal skills and a collaborative approach to problem-solving, Marticia is passionate about fostering inclusive environments where all students can thrive and succeed in their academic and professional pursuits. 
 

 

Katherine Leon (Flex, Shady Grove) | Vice President of Shady Grove kleon@umd.edu

Originally from Peru, Katherine Leon is a first-year MBA student at the Shady Grove campus. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Audiovisual Communication and a second bachelor’s degree in Spanish Literature and Culture from the University of Maryland. Fully bilingual in Spanish and English, Katherine brings a strong background in financial operations, small business leadership, and cross-functional collaboration. She is passionate about creating an inclusive environment and looks forward to serving the MBA community through her role on the PTMBAA Board. Outside of work and academics, she enjoys staying active, is an enthusiastic NBA fan, and values quality time with friends and family. She strives to maintain a balanced and meaningful lifestyle. 
 

 

Ashish Nunna (Flex, Baltimore)| Vice President of Baltimore anunna@umd.edu

Ashish is honored to serve as the Campus Vice President for the Baltimore campus and is currently a second-year MBA student at the University of Maryland’s Smith School of Business, pursuing a certification in Technology Management. With a strong focus on technology leadership and AI strategy, he brings a unique blend of technical expertise and business insight, supported by a master’s degree in computer science from California State University. 
Professionally, Ashish leads the Data Analytics and Science team at the University System of Maryland, where he has led impactful data-driven initiatives and supported digital transformation projects. His previous experience at organizations such as CVS Health, General Motors, and Cargill has further strengthened his skills in technology strategy, data analytics, and process optimization. 
Originally from India, Ashish brings a global perspective to both his academic and professional journey. He is passionate about using emerging technologies, particularly artificial intelligence, to solve complex business problems and drive innovation. Outside of work and school, he enjoys traveling, hiking, and seeking out new experiences. He is committed to making a meaningful impact within the Terps community and beyond.
 

 

Karla Kaliman (Flex, Baltimore)| Executive Vice President  kkaliman@umd.edu

Karla Kaliman is a dedicated HR professional with a robust educational background, having earned an undergraduate degree in International Relations and Business Administration, specializing in Human Resources, from Towson University. Her bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English, combined with her extensive knowledge of various HRIS systems, positions her as a versatile and valuable asset in the HR field. Karla currently excels as an HR Technology Analyst at Erickson Senior Living, where she leverages her strategic thinking and data-driven mindset to optimize HR processes and systems, contributing significantly to the organization's efficiency and employee satisfaction. Outside the professional realm, Karla's passion for exploring new cultures takes her around the globe, where she delights in experiencing diverse cuisines and broadening her culinary horizons.

 

 

Marcus Jenkins (Flex, DC)| Chief of Staff mjenki23@umd.edu

Marcus Jenkins is a dynamic digital marketing professional with experience spanning hospitality, sports, and retail. Currently in his final year at the Washington DC campus, Marcus brings a proven background in digital and business operations. He has worked with leading organizations including Marriott International, where he serves as a Senior Digital Analyst in Search Engine Optimization (SEO). At Marriott, he drives website performance by managing SEO strategies, optimizing content across Marriott and third-party platforms, and collaborating cross-functionally to strengthen search visibility and customer engagement.
In addition to his professional and academic pursuits, Marcus has a passion for leisure activities such as playing pool, video games, and exploring new destinations through travel. An avid sports fan, he proudly supports his hometown team, the Detroit Lions, which he closely follows during the NFL season.
