Communication Within the Smith Community

The primary mode of communication within the Smith community is email.

In an effort to streamline the number of email messages and announcements that students receive, the Masters Program Office (MPO) and Office of Career Services (OCS) have created the below email accounts. The intention is to make it easier for students to recognize and prioritize emails so students can read those with the most importance first.

  • Masters Programs Office (MPO): Messages directly from the Masters Programs Office that contain important information related to administrative issues impacting your academic program. Examples may include registration topics, graduation issues, schedule changes, etc.
  • Office of Career Services (OCS): Messages directly from the OCS that contain information related to the programs and services provided by the OCS.
  • Smith Announcements: Announcements from sources external to the MPO or OCS. These may include social activities, speaker announcements, or other general items of interest to MBA/Business Master's students.
  • MBA and Business Master's Program Student Associations (i.e., The MBA Association "MBAA", The Flex Part-Time MBA Association "PTMBAA" or the Smith Master Student Association "SMSA"): Messages announcing a variety of student group related events both academic (i.e., case competitions, speaker events, etc.) and extracurricular (i.e., sporting events, happy hours, etc.)

University of Maryland Graduate Students may also receive emails sent to all graduate students from campus affiliates such as the Graduate School, the Department of Transportation (parking and traffic issues, etc.) and Graduate Student Services.
