This course examines the legal and regulatory frameworks governing emergent technologies as they transition from terrestrial to space-based applications. Students will analyze the intersection of established space law principles with rapidly evolving technologies including artificial intelligence, blockchain, nuclear power, and satellites. Through case studies and comparative regulatory analysis, the course explores how businesses and governmental entities navigate jurisdictional challenges, liability issues, and compliance requirements when deploying advanced technologies beyond Earth's atmosphere. Topics include international space treaties, national regulations, privacy and intellectual property considerations in orbit, data sovereignty in extraterrestrial contexts, and the evolving governance structures for commercial space activities.
