Transfer Credit

College Park (Full-Time) MBA Program: No transfer credits will be accepted.

Business Master's Programs (All): No transfer credits will be accepted.

Part-Time Flex MBA Program: As a rule, transfer credits are not accepted into the MBA program except in rare situations that are beyond a student's control. For example, a student who was unable to complete an AACSB-accredited MBA program in CA due to a job transfer to the DC Metro area. All transfer credit requests are at the discretion of the Masters Programs Office, but requests will only be considered if all criteria below are met.

In order to be eligible to transfer any credits towards your MBA, you must meet ALL of the following criteria. (A maximum of 9 credit semester hours may be transferred into the program):

  • Students must have been enrolled as an MBA degree seeking student at the time the credit(s) were earned.
  • Currently enrolled as a degree seeking student in an MBA program.
  • Courses must be from an MBA program which is accredited by AACSB.
  • Credits may not have been used to meet the requirements for any degree previously earned.
  • The Masters Programs Office deems the courses appropriate for the University of Maryland degree.
  • Offical transcript has a posted letter grade of a "B" or better in the courses offered for transfer and a "B" or better average (GPA) in all graduate work taken at the institution from which the credits are being transferred.
  • Credit will not be given for any coursework posted on an official transcript with pass/fail grading.
  • Credit will not be given for any coursework taken more than five years before the anticipated date for completion of the MBA degree.

If you are attempting to transfer credits into the program, please review the information located below.

  1. Notify your campus administrator of your request prior to submitting and make sure your request meets the guidelines listed above.
  2. Submit the following:
    1. One official copy of all transcripts.
    2. Transfer Credit Form
    3. A course description and syllabus for credits to be transferred
    4. Proof that the course is graduate level (i.e. at University of Maryland at College Park (UMCP) course numbers 600-898 are graduate level and 400-498 are senior level)
    5. Current email address
  3. Gather ALL required information and submit in one packet to the Masters Programs Office no later than three weeks prior to the beginning of your first Fall semester:

All information MUST be submitted no later than three weeks prior to the beginning of your first Fall semester. Please do not send the requested material directly to the University of Maryland Graduate School. Sending material directly to UMCP's Graduate School will delay the proper delivery of the request.

Please note that submission of a credit transfer request meeting all the above requirements does not guarantee transfer of credits. All transfer course(s) must be approved by the Robert H.
