Part 4: Possible Penalties for Code of Academic Integrity Violations

Reported cases of academic dishonesty will follow the Academic Case Resolution Process. When academic dishonesty has been determined to have occurred, a sanction or punishment shall be imposed.

The normal sanction for a graduate student shall be dismissal (suspension or expulsion) from the University.

This means that the University could take away the ability of a student to continue classes at the University. This suspension or expulsion would be a permanent notation on a student's transcript. Another sanction may be a grade of “XF” for a course. In the case that an XF is received, a student will fail the course, and a notation will be placed on their transcript that states the failure was due to academic dishonesty. Either an ”XF” or a suspension will delay a student's ability to receive their degree. This can be a costly sanction in more ways than one.
