Tuition is billed per credit hour in the MS programs and determined by state of residence.

Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP) | Students are automatically enrolled in the Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP) upon registering for classes and the premium fee will be billed to the student's account. After registering, newly admitted students must wait 2 business days to complete the waiver. Waiver opens in December. Students who do not complete the waiver by February 15, 2025, will be billed the premium fee accordingly. Please refer to SHIP information below to waive SHIP or purchase/enroll in SHIP. |

Notes
Tuition and fees are subject to change and annual increases. Although changes in fees are ordinarily announced in advance, the University reserves the right to make such changes without previous announcement.
Masters students are charged on a per credit basis.
Any student coded as a non-resident will pay the out-of-state tuition rate and applicable College Park fees for courses taken at College Park and through external agreements (Consortium, Inter-Institutional, etc).
For example:
A typical graduate level course that uses the university tuition rates would be charged the following:
$844.56 + $786.44 = $1,631 per credit - for Maryland Residents
$1,841.10 + $231.40 = $2,072.50 per credit - for Non-Residents
Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP)
Students are automatically enrolled in the Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP) upon registering for classes and the premium fee will be billed to the student's account. After registering, newly admitted students must wait 2 business days to complete the waiver. Students who do not complete the waiver by February 15, 2025, will be billed the premium fee accordingly.
- I have existing insurance: Students who have existing insurance and want to be credited for the school health insurance must submit a waiver. Once approved, the insurance charge will be removed from the student account. Click here to waive SHIP
- I want to enroll in SHIP: Students who do not have existing insurance need to enroll in the school health plan. Charges will be assessed on the student account for this insurance. Click here to purchase/enroll SHIP
In-State Residency Status
Students wishing to challenge their out-of-state classification may do so by filing a timely "Petition of In-State Status Form" with the Office of the Registrar. Informational sessions are typically held at the beginning of the semester. The deadline for meeting the 12-month requirement for in-state status and for submitting a petition and supporting documentation is the end of the schedule adjustment period for the semester in which you wish to be classified as in-state. Retroactive in-state status is not granted.
It is imperative that students obtain a petition as soon as possible. Late petitions will not be accepted. The volume of petitions for review of eligibility may necessitate a delay in completing the review process, so it is important to apply early. In most cases, a final decision will be made within 90 days of receipt of a complete petition. For residency self-evaluation forms, walk-in hours, or other information, please contact:
