Spring 2020 Registration Appointments & Blocks

Tuesday, October 22, 2019

  • MBA students: 12:30 pm
  • MS in Business Analytics students: 2:00 pm
  • Specialty Masters students (except for MS in Business Analytics): 12:30pm
  • Go to Testudo
  • Select Appointment and Registration Status
  • Enter Directory ID and Password

If a student's correct appointment time is not listed in Testudo by Friday, October 18, they should contact their advisor. It is the student's responsibility to review their appointment prior and confirm it accuracy. Students with no appointment who fail to notify the Masters Programs Office will not be able to register on time. The Masters Programs Office staff does not hold any class space for students with incorrect or no appointments. All students should check their appointment and registration status for accuracy.

Courses become available to graduate students outside of the Smith School two weeks prior to each semester. If a student is unable to register for required courses prior to this date, they need to contact their advisor or their seat may be forfeited.

All students should check their registration status for accuracy by completing the following steps:

  • Visit Testudo
  • Select "Appointment and Registration Status"
  • Sign in with Directory ID and Password

The Masters Programs Office does not have access to view blocks and does not have the authority to remove blocks placed on your record by other University offices. Students are responsible for checking their account for blocks and clearing blocks prior to the start of registration. MPO does not hold class space for students who experience blocks.

Each course has a restriction. Typically, these restrictions are a combination of credit limits and degree programs.

When a restriction is encountered, the system will state: "you have not met course selection restrictions." If you encounter this message, you should first verify that you should be allowed to take the course. If you determine that you are eligible, please get in touch with your advisor. If you receive a message stating the course is non-standard, hit enter to bypass (most MBA and Specialty Masters courses are non-standard).

Some common problems that are encountered during registration involve blocks that are placed on a student's record. The Office of Student Financial Services and Cashiering, Graduate School, International Student and Scholar Services, the Health Center, and other university departments can activate blocks. Problems may include: missing transcripts, immunization records that have not cleared, overdue bills, parking violations, etc. It is the student's responsibility to be sure that records are complete and up to date. The most common block for first year students occurring during the Spring registration process is from the Health Center. We recommend that any first year student who has not cleared their immunization records, should call Carly Friend-Gomez immediately at (301) 314-8120 to get this resolved. In Ms. Friend-Gomez's absence kindly call the Immunization Office front desk at (301) 314-8114, if necessary leave a message with clear contact information.

Students should review their admission letter from the University of Maryland Graduate School and note if it specifically mentions whether they were missing official transcripts (or related documentation) at the time the letter was sent. The Graduate School will place a registration block on a student's record until the request is fulfilled.

If any issues occur the day of registration, students should contact their advisor. The first week of registration is extremely busy with telephone calls and emails, so patience is appreciated.
