Spring 2017 Registration Appointments & Blocks

Registration Appointments start over a two-day period, depending on how many credits students have completed at the end of Summer II 2016.

  • MBA students with 15 or more credits completed will register at 12:30pm on Tuesday, October 25th.
  • MBA students with 14 or fewer credits completed and all MS/MFin students will register at 12:30pm on Wednesday, October 26th.
  • Go to Testudo
  • Select Appointment and Registration Status
  • Enter Directory ID and Password

If a student's correct appointment time is not listed by Friday, October 21st, they should contact their campus advisor. It is the student's responsibility to review their appointment prior to this date as there is limited time in which to make appointment adjustments. Students with no appointment who fail to notify the Masters Programs Office by Friday, October 21st will be able to register starting 7:30am on Thursday, October 27th. The Masters Programs Office staff does not hold any class space for students with incorrect or no appointments.

Courses become available to graduate students outside of the Smith School on Monday, January 9, 2017. If you unable to register for required courses prior to January 9th, you will need to contact your campus advisor by Wednesday, January 4th or your seat may be forfeited.

Each course at the 600 and 700 level has a restriction. Typically, these restrictions are a combination of credit limits and degree programs.

(For example, an MBA elective that is restricted to second year students would have a minimum credit requirement of approximately 21 credits. Since on-track first year MBA students have less than 18 credits, they would be restricted from taking this course).

Courses that are 600-level have a maximum of approximately 21 credits, so second year students (who typically have 26-29+ credits completed) would be restricted from these courses.) When this block is encountered, the system will state: "you have not met course selection restrictions." If you encounter this block, you should first verify that you should be allowed to take this course. If you determine that you are eligible, please get in touch with your campus advisor so we can look into the situation. If you receive a message stating the course is non-standard, hit enter to bypass (most MBA and MS courses are non-standard).

Some of the common problems that are encountered during registration involve blocks that are placed on a student's record. The Office of Student Financial Services and Cashiering, Graduate School, International Student and Scholar Services, the Health Center, and other university departments can activate these blocks. Problems may include: missing transcripts, immunization records that have not cleared, overdue bills, parking violations, etc. It is the student's responsibility to be sure that records are complete and up to date. The most common block for first year students occurring during the Spring registration process is from the Health Center. We recommend that any first year student who has not cleared their immunization records, should call Tina Thorburn immediately at (301) 314-8120 to get this resolved.

If any issues occur the day of registration, students should contact their campus advisor. The first week of registration is extremely busy with telephone calls and emails, so patience is appreciated.
