Registration Appointments and Blocks Fall 2017

Registration for Fall 2017 will be held on March 28th at 12:30pm for MBA, MFin and MS students.

  • Go to Testudo
  • Select Appointment and Registration Status
  • Enter Directory ID and Password

If a student's correct appointment time is not listed by Monday, March 27th, they should contact their campus advisor. It is the student's responsibility to review their appointment prior to this date as there is limited time in which to make appointment adjustments. Students with no appointment who fail to notify the Masters Programs Office will not be able to register starting 12:30pm on March 28th. The Masters Programs Office staff does not hold any class space for students with incorrect or no appointments. All students should check their appointment and registration status for accuracy.

Courses become available to graduate students outside of the Smith School two weeks prior to each semester. If you are unable to register for required courses prior to this date, you will need to contact your campus advisor or your seat may be forfeited.

To check for blocks, go to Testudo and follow the same log-in instructions as outlined above under “Checking Registration Appointments.” The Masters Programs Office staff does not have access to view blocks and does not have the authority to remove blocks placed on your record by other University offices. The Office of the Registrar is the best contact if there is a block on your registration. You are responsible for checking your account for blocks and getting them cleared prior to the start of registration. The Masters Programs Office does not hold any class space for students who experience blocks.

Each course at the 600 and 700 level has a restriction. Typically, these restrictions are a combination of credit limits and degree programs.

Courses that are 600-level have a maximum of approximately 21 credits, so second-year students (who typically have 26-29+ credits completed) would be restricted from these courses.) When this block is encountered, the system will state: "you have not met course selection restrictions." If you encounter this block, you should first verify that you should be allowed to take this course. If you determine that you are eligible, please get in touch with your campus advisor.  If you receive a message stating the course is non-standard, hit enter to bypass (most MBA and MS courses are non-standard).

Some of the common problems that are encountered in the registration process involve blocks that are placed on your student record. The Office of Student Financial Services and Cashiering, Graduate School, International Student and Scholar Services, the Health Center, and other university departments can activate these blocks. Problems may include: missing transcripts, immunization records that have not cleared, overdue bills, writing test not completed (international students), parking violations, etc. It is your responsibility to be sure that records are complete and up to date.

If any issues occur the day of registration, students should contact their campus advisor. The first week of registration is extremely busy with telephone calls and emails, so patience is appreciated.
