The University of Maryland University Health Center is located on campus and provides comprehensive clinical services.
Immunizations
The University of Maryland requires all students (*online students please see below) to complete the University Health Center Immunization Record Form and submit proof of immunizations in order to attend the University of Maryland and register for classes. To review all required information and download the Immunization Record Form, please visit: https://health.umd.edu/immunizations.
All general questions concerning the immunization requirement should be addressed to the Health Center Immunization Office at: health@umd.edu or answers may be found on the Frequently Asked Questions page.
The Health Center cannot accept any documents that are sent to the Health Center via email. Students who have trouble uploading the form may call the Health Center at 301-314-8114.
Health Insurance
The Graduate School's Health Insurance for Graduate Students policy requires that all students (*online students please see below) enrolled full-time in a Master’s program at the College Park campus must have health insurance coverage.
Students awarded a graduate assistantship position DO NOT need to purchase student health insurance on their own. Health insurance information for graduate assistants will be reviewed and forms will be completed with Smith School Human Resources staff. Students holding a graduate assistantship can choose to 1) enroll in a Maryland State Employee Health Insurance Plan, included in the benefits for the assistantship 2) enroll in the University’s Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP), or 3) enroll in an external plan.
Students not holding a graduate assistantship can choose to 1) enroll in the University’s Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP) or 2) enroll in an external plan.
Students should bring their health insurance information to any Health Center appointments.
Online Programs
Students admitted to and enrolled in a fully online program (Online MBA, Online MS in Business Analytics, Online MS in Management Studies, etc) are exempt from the University's immunization requirement and are exempt from the University's health insurance requirement. However, if a student takes an on-campus class at any point during their program, they will be required to submit their immunization record. Online students who wish to opt into the University's Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP) can do so at any time.
