Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Admissions Information

My accompanying admission letter says I have been recommended for admission. When will I receive my formal admission status letter?
The University of Maryland Graduate School oversees all graduate programs and is the official decision-making body for all applications. Each academic department (including the Smith School MBA/MS/MFin Admissions Office) makes recommendations to the Graduate School. Your admission recommendation letter is from the Smith School MBA/MS/MFin Admissions Office. In addition to this recommendation letter, you will also receive a formal letter of admission status from the Graduate School. The Graduate School’s letter of admission is your formal notification of admission. Please pay attention to any provisions in the Graduate School letter. If no items are missing from your application file, you can expect to receive your formal admission letter 4-8 weeks after your admission recommendation letter from the Smith School MBA/MS/MFin Admissions Office.

The Graduate School's letter of admisson asks me to notify them in writing of my acceptance. Do I have to send a notification letter?
