We have finalized a great Orientation program for you—the full Schedule of Events is now posted on the Orientation page at https://networth.rhsmith.umd.edu/welcome-mkt/orientation. Orientation sessions will take place from Friday, August 18th to Friday, August 25th. I look forward to seeing you soon!

Orientation is intended to facilitate your transition to an active member of the Smith School community and acquaint you with the resources you need for academic success. The Masters Programs Office staff and the 2017 Orientation Committee members hope to provide you with a positive and rewarding experience.

Additional Orientation information and reminders:

• Please complete the Photo Release Form at https://networth.rhsmith.umd.edu/2017-permission-photo-release-during-orientation prior to Orientation. All students will have a professional headshot taken during Orientation. Headshots will be uploaded to the Networth student directory, and students are welcome to use these photos for personal use.
  
• Some orientation sessions will take place in Stamp Student Union and some will take place in Van Munching Hall—please review the Schedule of Events closely to ensure that you to the right location.
  
• The August 18th International Student Orientation will include the International Student & Scholar Services (ISSS) Immigration Session that is required for all international students. 
  
• The August 18th Ice Cream Social in Van Munching Hall is open to ALL incoming specialty masters students.
  
• On August 21st, there is a solar eclipse—there will be a break in the orientation program to see the eclipse, and eclipse viewing glasses will be provided to all students.
  
• If you need Immunizations from the University of Maryland Health Center, be sure to go to https://networth.rhsmith.umd.edu/welcome/admissions-information/immunizations-university-health-center and make an appointment as soon as possible. 
  
• The dress code for orientation varies by day, and is stated in the Schedule of Events; the Smith School Dress Code Guidelines, including a “Dress for Success” webinar is still available for you to review at http://go.umd.edu/dress17.   
  
• Orientation parking information for students are provided on the Parking Permit Information page at https://networth.rhsmith.umd.edu/welcome/college-park-parking-permit-information.
  
• Please bring a laptop to all orientation sessions from August 18th to August 25th.

During your free time, be sure to purchase textbooks and course packets, and obtain your student ID card. By now you should have completed almost everything on the Pre-Program Checklist. 

Academic Schedule Change

The academic schedule for incoming students has been changed so that BUMK 758G will take place in Term B instead of Term A. Student schedules will be updated; there is no need for you to take any additional action. The updated schedule is available on the registration instructions page at https://networth.rhsmith.umd.edu/welcome-mkt/registration.
