Good Afternoon, This week we would like to introduce you to resources available to all MBA students and have our last video from the Orientation Committee! In addition, we will continue to send reminders each week prior to upcoming deadlines. Weekly Checklist Task Reminders: This week’s mandatory task items are: Register for Campus Parking Permit (registration opened July 27th see below for more details) Complete Incoming Student & Intercultural Surveys (deadline July 30th see below for more details) Register for MathCamp (if attending, registration deadline July 31st)
Parking Permit Information: Registration for campus parking permits opened on Monday, July 27th. For those who will be driving to Orientation events, you must register for the permit by this Friday, July 31st. The DOTS office will update your account and your permit will be valid on Thursday, August 6th, allowing you to park on campus for all Orientation events. Weekly Highlight: Campus Resources The University of Maryland has many resources for students to take advantage of. Below are some of the most utilized on-campus and technology resources. UMD On-Campus Resources: Technology Resources: Eppley Recreation Center Canvas Stamp Student Union Testudo University Health Center Software Downloads & Computer Purchases TerpConnect UMD Box Service UMD On-Campus Resources: Eppley Recreation Center - http://crs.umd.edu/ All students are members of Eppley Recreation Center (ERC) during the semesters in which they are registered. Students have access to the ERC, along with Cole Field House, Ritchie Coliseum, Reckord Armory, or the School of Public Health Building (SPH). The ERC features two multi-use gymnasiums, a two-level weight room, a 3,500 square foot fitness center, an indoor track, squash and racquetball courts, and a natatorium among many other features.
Stamp Student Union - http://thestamp.umd.edu/ Stamp is the University of Maryland’s center for campus life and is about a 10 minute walk from Van Munching Hall. Stamp features a food court, the university book store, and TerpZone with bowling, billiards, and games.
University Health Center - http://health.umd.edu/ The University Health Center (UHC) is staffed by physicians, physician assistants, and registered nurse practitioners. Services to all registered students, include: urgent care, a walk-in clinic, x-ray and laboratory services, a pharmacy, an allergy clinic, physical therapy, women’s health services, orthopedics, immunizations, massage therapy, acupuncture, substance abuse programs and counseling, and mental health services.
Technology Resources: Canvas - http://www.elms.umd.edu/ The University’s learning management system, commonly used by your professors to post course syllabi, assignments, participate in class discussions and view instructor feedback.
Testudo - www.testudo.umd.edu An online resource offering course registration, course availability, transcript requests, and more. If you’ve moved, you can also change your address here.
Software Downloads & Computer Purchases - www.terpware.umd.edu & www. UMD contracts make popular software available to students at no additional charge: Microsoft Office, Windows upgrades, Adobe creative programs, anti-virus software, and more.
The University of Maryland's ACT - Academic Computers for Terps - program allows registered students, faculty, and staff of the University of Maryland, College Park to purchase Apple or Dell computers at or below standard discounts, as well as receive substantial added benefits in technical support and warranty protection.
TerpConnect - www.act.umd.edu Save files where they will be backed up daily or use your 5GB of space to host web pages.
UMD Box Service - www.it.umd.edu/box Box is a cloud-based storage and collaboration system that provides a Web interface for uploading, downloading, sharing, and discussing files.
