Weekly Highlight: Smith School Resources

The Smith School of Business has many resources for students to take advantage of. Below are some of the most utilized resources.

MBAA Smoogle Calendar

You should have received a notification within the past week to add the "MBAA 2016-2017" calendar to your Smoogle account from the MBAA Executive VP, Romano Mascetti. As mentioned by MBAA President, Alexandra Moore, in the 7/6 Weekly Email, this calendar contains programming for the Fall 2016 semester. Please note the Spring 2017 events are not yet up to date. We invite you to explore the calendar and keep it on hand once school beings as it will list events from MBAA & the clubs, the Masters Programs Office, and the Office of Career Services.

Subscription Publications

MPO has subscriptions to the following publications, which are delivered to the case rooms: Wall Street Journal (paper copy), Business Week, The Economist, Forbes, Harvard Business Review, Fortune Inc., Entrepreneur, Money.

Wall Street Journal – http://wsj.com/

All students have access to the Wall Street Journal. The Masters Programs Office proves four Wall Street Journal subscriptions for students. In addition to the paper copies, students can also access the subscriptions online. Instructions to log in are as follows:

1.                   Go to WSJ.com and click ‘login’ at the top right corner of the page

2.                  Only one person can be logged into each account at a time;  if you can’t login with one, try the next on the list:

b.      Name: ccoughlin@rhsmith.umd.edu; password: Smith1

c.       Name: mpo-cpmba@rhsmith.umd.edu; password: Smith1

d.      Name: smith_school_announcements@rhsmith.umd.edu; password: Smith1

3.                  Please email any articles you’d like to your email address, and be sure not to save them to the account, as these accounts will be used by all students.

Computer Labs in Van Munching Hall - http://it.rhsmith.umd.edu/labs-college-park

Van Munching Hall has (1) general computing lab and (5) discipline specific labs for research and teaching. Research and teaching labs are special purpose labs, each with unique hardware and software, and are used for discipline specific teaching and research.

Case Room Resources in Van Munching Hall

MBA students will have access to case rooms in Van Munching Hall located on the second floor. Case rooms provide students access to two printers for MBA access only, lockers, supplies and study rooms. Quiet/individual study space is also available on the second floor (2333 A-D VMH) without reservation when events are not being held. Next to the study space is a kitchen where MBA students have access to a refrigerator, microwaves, and storage space. More information about case rooms will be provided during Orientation.

Video from the Orientation Committee:
We are really excited to share perspectives from current students, and you will met several of them over the course of a couple videos this summer. Watch this week’s video discussing current student’s experiences here.

If you have any questions your Smith partner is there as a resource, or ask a question on Facebook!
