I received a message stating there is a time conflict between my courses.

As long as you were able to register for your courses using the track code and section number as noted on your campus registration page, you can disregard the system message stating there is a time conflict. The message is a system occurrence and it reads time conflict with no regard to the dates of the courses. Please check the schedule of classes to verify the times and meeting dates are not in conflict.

I received a message stating that the course is non-standard.

If you receive a message stating that the course is non-standard, hit enter to bypass (all MBA and Business Master's courses at the Smith School are non-standard).

I received a message stating I must receive permission from the Department.

This error message may be due to a variety of reasons such as being incorrectly coded in the system, wrong information was entered during the registration, the student is attempting to register for individual courses rather than using the track code, etc. For specific problems, please contact your campus advisor.

I received a message stating that I did not meet the credit level requirements.

First year students should register for their track of required courses using the track code and section number for their cohort. Credit levels are used as the primary restriction for course registration. Before emailing your campus advisor, verify that you are eligible for the course you are attempting to add.

What is the MBAB99MB that appears on my registration?

This is a code used by the Office of the Registrar as the course designation for track assignments within the MBA program. This code tells the registration system to add all of the assigned courses in a particular track to the student's schedule. This code will appear as a course on your schedule (for registration), but will not receive a grade or credits, nor will it incur a charge. Tuition charges are per credit and grades will be given for individual courses.

What if I need to take off a semester or cannot take the full required course load?

If at any time you cannot take a required course during a semester, you must contact your campus advisor. The required courses are required for graduation and your campus advisor will instruct you on how to request the missed course(s) as an 'off-track' student. Off-track students do not have priority to register for required courses and required courses are only offered during certain semesters. Many of the required courses serve as prerequisites for electives and other required courses, so these courses must be completed as soon as possible. Students must complete the program within five years of their admission date.

Can I transfer courses into the MBA program?

Transfer credits are not accepted; however, exceptions are made from time to time (i.e., if a student was transferred to the DC Metro area for work after starting an MBA program at an AACSB accredited institution). Please contact your campus advisor prior to starting your program for more information.

Can I register for courses beyond the scheduled load?

While taking required courses, students must submit a request to their campus advisor to be considered for an overload. Extra consideration will be given to students who are not working full-time.

When do I choose my elective courses?

Required courses are completed with the student's cohort, that is, all classes are completed as a part of a predetermined "track" of classes at the student's home campus. Required courses are completed during the first and second year of the program. Students do not select any official specialty or concentration but are able to choose industry-focused elective courses based on career and academic goals. To complete the Flex MBA in 24 months, it is recommended that students takt their first elective course as early as the Winter term of the first year. Many students will begin elective courses in Summer II of the first year. Please consult with your campus advisor regarding your specific goals.

How do I register for a required course that I missed (or need to repeat)?

Once you have missed required courses, you are considered "off-track" and will not be permitted to register for the missed course, or to repeat a course, until on-track students have had an opportunity to register. Any off-track students should meet with their campus advisor prior to registering for classes. Required courses are only offered during certain semesters. On-track students are given priority for these courses in order to remain in their cohorts.

Are MBA track assignments rolled over from my last semester?

Track assignments are only valid for one semester at a time. Each semester, during the required course phase, students must re-register for their track. Specific registration instructions will be provided prior to registration.

Paying Your Bill in Networth: Who is my main contact for financial aid and loans?

Please see the "Financial Information" section for more information. Questions about your financial aid and loans should be directed to your campus advisor.

When is the last day I can drop a course for a full refund?

Please review the Office of the Registrar's website for the full policy and the refund schedule. Please consult with your campus advisor well in advance if your circumstances change. We recommend all schedule adjustments are made prior to the first day of the term.

I have a question about my residency classification and/or I believe it was incorrect in my admissions letter.

If you are classified as a non-Maryland resident, as found in your admissions letter, and you believe that to be incorrect, review the information provided by Residency Reclassification Services for procedures.

Where do I find my University ID number (UID)?

Your UID is a specialized number given to you by the university and used only for identification purposes. Your UID was provided to you with your acceptance letter from the MBA Admissions Team.

How do I set up my Directory ID and password?

See the Directions for Setting up Directory ID and Password page on Networth. This task is also a part of your New Student Checklist.

How do I contact faculty?

Please visit the faculty directory on the Smith School website. If you are unable to locate your faculty member, please reach out to your campus advisor.
