Orientation Schedule of Events
The latest version of the Orientation Schedule of Events is available on Networth at https://networth.rhsmith.umd.edu/welcome-cp-acct/orientation/schedule-events.
  • Bring your laptop—you will need it for some of the sessions, including International Student Orientation on Monday, August 17th.
  • International students should review the attached document from International Student & Scholar Services prior to Monday’s session and come to orientation with electronic copies of necessary documents.
  • Pay attention to the dress code for each day, which is Business Casual or Business Professional on Monday through Thursday (avoid casual clothing like shorts, jeans, and sneakers; see http://go.umd.edu/dress15 for guidance).
  • Breakfast will be provided to students on Monday and Tuesday; lunch will be provided Monday through Thursday.
Share your Orientation Experiences
The Orientation Committee is seeking students who are interested in sharing orientation experiences with others by writing a summary—approximately 500 words—for the Netwroth web site. The student stories can be about main points that were learned, interesting things about the Smith School, interesting people met, or anything else that is appropriate to share with other students about orientation. To sign up, complete the form at http://go.umd.edu/orientsummary.

Reminders
  • Only registered Smith School students (not guests) should plan to attend Orientation, including breakfasts and lunches.
  • The Smith Master Student Association (SMSA) will host optional social activities on Sunday, August 16th; visit http://goo.gl/forms/4XCE9qZriI to RSVP (you must be logged into your Smoogle account). If you registered, but need to cancel, please send an email to smsaboard@rhsmith.umd.edu.
  • International Student Orientation is on Monday, August 17th:
    • Group 1: Last/family name A through O – check in at the atrium in front of Frank Auditorium at 8:30 am
    • Group 2: Last/family name P through Z – check in at the atrium in front of Tyser Auditorium at 9:00 am
  • Check-in for New Student Orientation for Accounting students will take place on Tuesday, August 18th from 9:00 – 9:30 am in the atrium in front of Frank Auditorium in Van Munching Hall.
  • During check-in on Monday and Tuesday morning, please check in as quickly as possible—plan to ask program questions during the Advising session later in the week.
