7/8 - Weekly Email From the Masters Programs Office

Good afternoon,

Today marks
our seventh weekly email to you. This week, we introduce you to the Part-Time
MBA Association (PTMBAA)!  We also continue to include reminders for
upcoming deadlines, details for which can be found on the Pre-Program Checklist
on
Networth.

Highlight: Part-Time MBA Association

Please see the letter below from Jose Vides,
President, Part-Time MBA Association.

Dear Admitted Student,

Congratulations on your
admittance to the Robert H. Smith School of Business at the University of
Maryland!

As President of the Part-Time MBA
Association (PTMBAA), I want to take this opportunity to welcome you. Our Smith family is an amazing community composed of a diverse group of remarkable
and accomplished professionals (just like you!), proud alumni, world-class
professors, faculty and staff who continuously encourage and support each
other, in all endeavors.

The PTMBAA represents the students’
voice and interests and is always striving to improve and add value to our program.
We have an exciting year of planned events aimed at increasing your Smith
experience and building a stronger Smith community. Throughout the year we will
host community outreach, sporting and team building events, annual signature
events, as well as, give you the chance to create your own series of fun filled
functions!

As a fellow student, I can appreciate
the tough charge that is to tend the responsibility of a full-time job and acclimate to a full load of classes (especially during your first semester) while also attempting to have a social life. Yet, the program affords you with
an array of opportunities to immerse yourself and apply your skills and
knowledge, gained in and out of the classroom setting. We have numerous networking
events (formal and informal), short as well as long term study abroad programs,
career development events, and of course the chance to start your own business
with fellow classmates. At the end of your journey, you will want to reminisce
and know that you made the most out of YOUR Smith experience. With that being
said, I highly encourage you to attend as many student welcoming events. This
will give you the chance to meet your future classmates and Smith staff.

Your experience and value gained from the
Smith school is in your hands. Seize the day. Once again, congratulations and
welcome to Smith! I look forward to meeting each and every one of you.

Respectfully,

Jose Vides, President, Part-Time
MBA Association
