7/15 - Weekly Email From the Masters Programs Office

Dear incoming Master of Science in Information Systems student,

Please make sure to review the Incoming Student Website, especially the Pre-Program Checklist, for upcoming deadlines, important dates, and action items to be completed prior to the start of your program.

To uphold its strong integrity, character, and ethics, the University of Maryland has established clear expectations for students through its Code of Student Conduct and Code of Academic Integrity. To help prepare you for academic success, all incoming MS/MFin students are required to complete a web-based Academic Integrity Tutorial. This tutorial will take approximately 30 minutes to complete.

To complete this tutorial

  1. Review the Code of Academic Integrity
  2. Visit www.academicintegrity.umd.edu and log in
  3. Use the “Next” button at the bottom to go through the entire tutorial and complete all surveys
  4. After the final survey is complete (page #32), click “submit”
  5. Forward your confirmation email to me at mpo-cpmsb-informationsystems@rhsmith.umd.edu no later than August 12th

Academic dishonesty, defined as any of the following acts committed by a student, is not tolerated at the University of Maryland:

  • Cheating: intentionally using or attempting to use unauthorized materials, information, or study aids in any academic exercise
  • Fabrication: intentional and unauthorized falsification or invention of any information or citation in an academic exercise
  • Facilitating Academic Dishonesty: intentionally or knowingly helping or attempting to help another to violate any provision of this Code
  • Plagiarism: intentionally or knowingly representing the words or ideas of another as one’s own in any academic exercise

Any member of the University of Maryland community who has witnessed an apparent act of academic dishonesty, or has information that reasonably leads to the conclusion that such an act has occurred or has been attempted, has the responsibility to inform the Honor Council promptly through the Academic Integrity Referral Form.

As always, please contact me if you have any questions.

Regards,
