The Smith Master Student Association (SMSA), and Masters Programs Office (MPO) have partnered to offer an online Beginning Tableau Workshop led by Zeinab Karake. A pizza lunch is included with registration.

Location: 1407 Van Munching Hall

Expected Learning Outcomes:

  • Understand the Tableau interface
  • Understand the difference between dimensions and measures
  • Understand how to use rows, columns, and marks card
  • Connect to data sources
  • Create basic graphs: bar charts, line graphs, tables
  • Create interactive graphs and dashboards in Tableau


Software/Hardware:

  • This workshop requires students to bring their laptop.
  • Tableau is available at no cost for academic use. Students should visit https://www.tableau.com/academic/students and use their UMD email address to download and install the software prior to the workshop.
