The Masters Programs Office (MPO) and the Smith Master Student Association (SMSA) have partnered to offer an online Introduction to Power BI Workshop instructed by Prashant Kumar.
Zoom login information will be sent to registered attendees via email from SMSA the evening prior to the workshop.
Students may direct questions about this workshop to SMSA at smith-club-smsa@umd.edu.
Expected Learning Outcomes:
- Prepare intermediate-level data visualizations using Power BI utilizing best practices.
Prerequisite & Preparation:
- This class is offered online, and requires a computer and a strong internet connection.
- Participants should install Power BI prior to attending the session.
- Participants should have attended the Introduction to Power BI session, or otherwise be familiar with Power BI Desktop Interface – Understanding of the workspace (Reports, Data, Model view), Connecting to Data Sources – Importing data from Excel, SQL, or other sources, Basic Data Transformations – Cleaning, filtering, and shaping data using Power Query, Creating Simple Visualizations – Bar charts, line charts, tables, and slicers, Basic Understanding of Relationships – Knowing how tables connect in a Power BI model.
- Familiarity with Power BI Service and Publishing Reports is a plus but not required.
