Mark Segal, CEO Shady Grove Fertility

Mark Segal is the Chief Executive Officer for Shady Grove Fertility, the largest fertility medical services organization in the United States, with more than 900 physicians and employees in 32 offices located in Maryland, Pennsylvania, Washington DC, Virginia, Georgia, Florida and Santiago Chile. In addition, Mark was the Regional President for IntegraMed America, previously a public company, where he oversaw the Mid-Atlantic region for 17 years. He has over 30 years of experience in healthcare consulting, finance and management. He is the Managing Partner of Seglo Capital, a family held angel and venture capital partnership, where he serves on the boards of five privately held companies. He has also participated on the advisory boards of various public companies, including EMD Serono and Capital One Bank. In 2015, Mark was awarded the E&Y Entrepreneur of Year award and today is one of nine judges for this prestigious competition.

After earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and a Post-Graduate Degree in Accounting from the University of Cape Town, South Africa, he qualified as a Chartered Accountant. Mark immigrated to the United States in 1991, where he successfully completed the CPA exam and graduate degree with a focus in healthcare. His research and thesis was titled: Outcomes Based Fees: A Market Driven Approach to Healthcare Finance. Mark has a MBA from the University of Maryland, Smith School of Business.

He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and served on the Washington D.C. Chapter Healthcare Committee. He is also a member of the Healthcare Financial Management Association and Medical Group Management Association, for whom he has presented seminars on various healthcare management topics. In addition Mark has written articles for Medical Economics: Infertility Treatment, Basing fees on outcomes; Today’s Healthcare Magazine: Practice Mergers and Acquisitions and Doctors Perspectives Newsletter: Physician Anti-referral laws and Regulations.

Mark and his wife Amanda live in Potomac, and have three children, Aaron and Kayla (twins age 21) and Nicole (age 15).
