July 6 - Introducing your Flex MBA Curriculum and Pre-Skills!

Dear Student,

Welcome to July!

Throughout your Flex MBA program, you'll be a part of a cohort of students taking a mandatory set of required classes. Smith's required curriculum serves as the foundation for your Flex MBA program and teaches essential skills for success in the business world.

At this point, you should be registered for the five fall classes (totaling 10 credits) using the Flex MBA track code provided in the registration instructions on the Admitted Student Website on Networth

You are encouraged to learn about the complete Flex MBA curriculum! The following required BUSI prefix courses will be taken during your first semester at the Robert H. Smith School of Business:
Curious about how your semesters are split up into terms? Be sure to check out your Academic Calendar on the Admitted Student Website!

BUSI600 Pre-Skills Introduction

Prior to joining your classmates at Opening Residency next month, we would like to level out your skills in math, Excel, and writing across your incoming cohort. The Canvas course for BUSI600 is now available and this site has the MBA Workshops and Skill Building Pre-Skills you need to be successful in your program. You will see the graded assignments listed in each of the workshop tabs. The graded assignments must be completed by August 19 at midnight.

Depending on your academic strengths, some modules may challenge you and take more time than others to complete (expect up to 40 hours for the math bootcamp and 30 hours for Excel if you are unfamiliar with the concepts). These skills will be needed from your first semester at UMD Smith and these modules will build your confidence.
