Subject: Second Summer Update from Assistant Dean Paulo Prochno
Video: 7 minutes, 23 seconds

Hello all,

Second video update for the summer, now focusing on summer II. In the video I address some questions that have been raised:

- Why have some courses moved to another day of the week?
- Why are some live sessions shorter? Are you cutting content from the courses? Will the courses still last 7 weeks if live sessions are shorter?
- What is “asynchronous” learning? (and what is synchronous)?
- Do we learn less in the online environment?

Summary of the conclusions: whenever a course is delivered online, we need to rethink how to deliver each element in order to make the best use of the live sessions. Some elements can – and many times should – be delivered asynchronously. Other elements need to be discussed during class. The objective is – always! – to find the best way to deliver content.

Please send me any questions or comments you may have.

Thanks!
Paulo
