The Financial Service Center has made enhancements to the Terp Payment Plan through their partnership with Tution Management Systems (TMS). TMS is now the exclusive payment plan administration for the University of Maryland.

The Terp Payment Plan (TPP) at the University of Maryland allows you to spread your educational expenses in monthly installments over the academic year or by the semester. The enrollment fee is $75.00 for the annual plan and $50.00 for the semester plan. Additional plan details are available at bursar.umd.edu (link is external).

TPP enrollment is open for online at umd.afford.com or by phone by contacting TMS at 1-800-722-4867. At umd.afford.com (link is external) you have 24/7 secure account access to:
* Set up and modify payment plan budgets
* Make online payments for your monthly installments
* View previous or upcoming scheduled payments

Once enrolled, you will be billed monthly by TMS in accordance with your payment plan schedule. You may pay online or automatic deductions from your checking or savings account, by mail or by credit card with a related processing fee. Please note that all payment plan payments must be made to TMS.

*Please note that if you make changes to your courses (add or drop) you are responsible for updating this information with TMS.

Notes: 

Tuition and fees are subject to change and annual increases.

MBA and MS students are charged on a per credit basis.

Any student coded as a non-resident will pay the out-of-state tuition rate for courses taken at College Park.

External agreements (Consortium, Inter-Institutional, etc.) classes are charged tuition based on the student’s residency classification.

Study abroad courses will be charged a flat rate tuition.

Fee Notes

Students enrolled in College Park courses, study trips, study abroad and external agreements (Consortium, Inter-Institutional, etc.) will pay applicable College Park fees.

An International Student fee of $125 is charged to all full-time international students and $62.50 to all part-time international students each semester.

Tuition Remission for Students Holding GA/TA Positions: 

Students holding graduate assistantship positions within the University should note that the practice of awarding 5 or 10 credits of tuition remission does not apply to the MBA/MS Programs. Due to differential tuition, MBA students receive a tuition credit that is valued at the prevailing standard in-state per credit rate of $683* .

In the Fall and Spring, students on 10-12 hour graduate assistantship positions will receive a tuition credit of approximately $3,415 per semester (5 x $683) and students on 20 hour GA positions will receive a tuition credit of $6,830 (10 x $683).

Graduate Assistants wishing to enroll in the winter will receive a tuition credit of $1,366 (2 x $683) if they hold a 10-12 hour position and $2,732 (4 x $683) if they hold a 20 hour position.

All Graduate Assistants will be classified as in-state for tuition purposes.

Fee waivers associated with tuition remission do not apply to Robert H. Smith School of Business fees.
