7/8 - Weekly Email From the Masters Programs Office

Dear incoming Master of Finance student,

Please remember to visit the Incoming Student Website for information about your program.

Office of Career Services Introduction

The Masters Program Office staff at the Smith School will be providing academic advising and other important services to you, and we work collaboratively with the Office of Career Services (OCS) staff, who will also be key partners to your success. The expert OCS staff members provide students with career coaching, self-assessments, resume and cover advice, mock interviews, career workshops, and more. Students seeking employment upon graduation are encouraged to engage with OCS as early as possible. The students who are most successful in reaching their career goals are usually those who actively engage with their career coaches upon arrival, focus on building their professional network, and participate in OCS programs. A full day of programming during New Student Orientation, led by the OCS team, will focus on career development. Please review the attached Pre-arrival MS OCS Checklist, and other OCS information in the Career Services section of the Incoming Student Website.

Meet Your Career Coach Webinar

On July 10th from 9:00 am to 10:00 am eastern time, the OCS staff will host a “Meet Your Career Coach” Webinar. To join the webinar, go to https://webmeeting.umd.edu/meetyourcoach/ at that time.

Professional Name Tags

All students are required to order a professional name tag to use during orientation and career services events throughout the year.

On-Campus Jobs

Students are sometimes interested in working part time while completing their degree program. The University of Maryland lists all available on-campus employment opportunities at https://ejobs.umd.edu/.
