Fall 2015 Course Registration

If you have not yet registered for Fall 2015 courses, please visit the Networth web site for instructions and register right away.

 

Accelerated Program Option

The standard curriculum plan is for students who plan to graduate in December 2016. Students do have the option to accelerate the program and graduate in May 2016. If you plan to graduate in May 2016, please email me so we can discuss your schedule for Fall—you will need to register for an additional course. 

 

Decision, Operations & Information Technologies Department and Master of Science in Information Systems Academic Leadership

The Master of Science in Information Systems program is offered by the Smith School’s Decision, Operations & Information Technologies Department and, as of August 15th, will be led by Academic Director Donald Riley.

 

Dr. Riley is Professor of Information Systems, teaching courses in information systems, modeling and simulation, telecommunications and information systems security. He is also Academic Director of the Cybersecurity Leadership Certificate program, and faculty advisor to the masters student Information Systems Association. He is founding Chair and CEO of the Internet Educational Equal Access Foundation (IEEAF). He also serves as IT Fellow at the Southeastern Universities Research Association (SURA) in Washington, DC. Dr. Riley is co-founder and co-chair of the annual Chinese American Network Symposium and was recognized in 2000 by the Chinese Academy of Sciences as “Senior Technical Advisor to China Science and Technology Network;” on the Technical Advisory Board of the Chinese American Association for Science and Technology. He was Co-Chair, Task Group on Knowledge Infrastructure in Developing Countries, under the Inter-Academy Panel on International Issues, at the request of the U.S. National Academy of Sciences, 2009-2010. From 1998 to 2003, Dr. Riley was the first Vice President and CIO at the University of Maryland; from 1992 to 1998, he served as the first Associate Vice President and CIO at the University of Minnesota, where he also was a Professor of Mechanical Engineering from 1976 to 1998. Dr. Riley was one of the founding members of the national Internet2 initiative; co-founded the Mid-Atlantic Crossroads (MAX) regional networking consortium, one of the largest Internet2 regional gigapops, hosting the NGIX-DC (Next Generation Internet Exchange) for the federal agency NGI R&D networks. He also served on the board of National LambdaRail (NLR), Inc., from 2006 to 2011. He served as inaugural chair of the EDUCAUSE Board of Trustees and was one of the founders of the EDUCAUSE National Learning Infrastructure Initiative. Dr. Riley has BSME, MSME and PhD degrees from the Purdue University School of Mechanical Engineering.
